(Philadelphia) – Brian J. McMonagle of McMonagle Perri McHugh Mischak Davis has been elected the 2024-2025 president of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (PACDL).
The PACDL, founded in 1988, provides educational, advocacy and networking opportunities to their close to 1000 members, whose practices are dedicated to ensuring equal justice under the law and protecting individual freedoms.
“I am a proud member of an organization that effectuates positive change in the legal profession,” said McMonagle. “As president, I hope to provide the same support and inspiration to those who work for the future of the criminal defense bar as so many leaders in PACDL have done for me over the years.”
McMonagle has twice been named “Lawyer of the Year” for criminal defense in Philadelphia by Best Lawyers in America, a significant honor in that it is given to just one individual in a geographic region each year for a specific area of practice. He has gained international recognition over the years for representing high-profile public figures and celebrities, including the defense of recording artist Meek Mill, whose overturned conviction and release from prison sparked a national movement for criminal justice reform and more equitable sentencing practices.
In 2022, the PACDL honored McMonagle with its Alan Jay Josel Advocacy Award for his extraordinary defense of Amtrak engineer Brandon Bostian, who was acquitted of involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment charges stemming from the 2015 derailment of Amtrak Train 188.
McMonagle, who is also listed in Martindale Hubbell’s Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Attorneys, has also been inducted into the prestigious American College of Trial Attorneys and the American Board of Criminal Lawyers.
