26-year-old Jendayi Mawusi, a Philadelphia caseworker, was found not guilty today of all charges related to the tragic death of a young child in foster care in July of 2022.

At the time of the 3-year-old’s passing, the medical examiner’s office had ruled the death a homicide by blunt-force trauma, and, after an investigation, the child’s foster mother was subsequently charged with murder and related offenses.

However, in October of 2022, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office also charged Mawusi, a case manager for NET Treatment Service, with third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and endangering the welfare of a child.

McMonagle quickly moved to have the homicide charges dismissed, then worked for a year to establish in court today that she had also been wrongfully accused of endangering the welfare of a child.
