(Philadelphia) Attorney Steven B. Patton of McMonagle Perri McHugh Mischak Davis continues to inspire and empower the next generation of legal talent, most recently through his work as a coach of the mock trial team of Roman Catholic High School, who have just won the 2025 Empire Mock Trial World Championship. The competition took place November 7th through the 10th in Chicago, Illinois. The students competed against 43 other schools from three countries.
The championship trial was held at the Chicago-Kent School of Law after students argued multiple preliminary rounds to advance to the finals. The final round was livestreamed to audiences worldwide. Following the victory, Patton, long recognized by Roman Catholic High School for his leadership and thoughtful guidance of students, reflected on the team’s performance.
“Watching these students rise to the moment — under pressure, against elite competition — was nothing short of inspiring,” said Patton. “Their discipline, teamwork, and heart carried them all the way to a world title. I’m grateful to coach alongside Nicholas Guth, John Pensabene, and George Zindel, and incredibly proud of what this team accomplished together.”
Patton brings extensive experience as a mock trial coach and adjunct professor at Villanova University School of Law. At McMonagle Perri, he focuses his practice on personal injury and criminal defense litigation. Before joining the firm, he served as the youngest prosecutor ever appointed to the Homicide Unit of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where he handled cases ranging from manslaughter to first-degree murder.
