Charles Gibbs Moderates Philadelphia Bar Town Hall with Kenyatta Johnson

(Philadelphia) –  Partner Charles M. Gibbs of McMonagle Perri McHugh Mischak Davis moderated a virtual town hall on April 1 featuring Philadelphia Councilman Kenyatta Johnson. Hosted by the Philadelphia Bar Association (PBA), the event afforded members the opportunity to observe a discussion of critical issues facing Philadelphia led by Gibbs and Johnson, who was elected president of Philadelphia City Council in January.

At the event, Johnson expressed the gravity of what this leadership role means to him and how he is committed to addressing issues like crime, safety and gun violence. He stressed that city council members are committed to, as he stated, “working collectively toward moving the City of Philadelphia forward and making sure we’re addressing those critically key issues that are there and concerning to the people here.”

“One of the most vital skills that an attorney can possess,” said Gibbs following the discussion, “is the ability to bridge divides and help people tell their stories. I was honored to moderate this event with Council President Johnson to help him expand upon his vision for the city and issue a call to attorneys to get more actively involved.”

Gibbs, who is a co-chair of the PBA’s Policy Committee, focuses his practice on criminal defense, family law, and election and municipal law matters. A prominent trial attorney with a devotion to public service, he is a past president of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia and has been named to the City & State Law Power 100 list in Pennsylvania. He was also given the prestigious J. Austin Norris award from the Barristers’ Association for working to bring about positive social change.
